Once we graduate, Christopher has so generously designed a contest for us. The contest will be judged by some very well known artists in the sewing world. This is so exciting for all of us. As we get closer, I will keep you updated.
Hi, my name is Winnie Chouinard. My husband Ed and I are now living in Florida full time. Much nicer than those cold, snowy winters in the Northeast. I have been sewing since age 13. My mother made about 90% of my clothes but I had my own ideas as to what they should look like. I also enjoy doing all the other craftier things out there but my love is sewing. In my early 20's, I had the opportunity to work for a large furniture chain making their window treatments. I really enjoyed that part of sewing - helping make a room beautiful. As time went on my business grew and I worked in the Home Dec business for over 35 years. I found the business very rewarding - working with beautiful silks, upholstery fabrics and all the new blends. My passion has always been pillows but I never seemed to have the time to devote to this passion - until now.
One day while surfing the web, I found Christopher Nejman's web site. I was so impressed with his work, not just ordinary pillows but a whole new concept. I immediately signed up for his book and DVD and waited patiently for them to arrive. I already had a BabyLock Embellisher and used it as everyone else did, with roving and wool. Once I received Christopher's book and started punching all those beautiful "fancy fabrics" it made a much more beautiful presentation. Now my pillows are more vibrant, richer looking and have definitely become a conversation piece.
I hope you follow along as I continue my journey as an FCA (fiber construction artist).
